Short Term Rehab Nursing
Is Short-Term Skilled Nursing Facility Appropriate For You?
Skilled Nursing Facilities, or SNFs, are for people that are recovering from a medical procedure or condition. In order to be accepted to a Skilled Nursing Facility, patients must have been recently discharged from a hospital and must have a doctors order to be admitted.
Medicare only pays 100% for 20 days, then about 80% for the next 80 days. Beyond that first 100 days, patients are responsible for paying on their own through personal funds or a Long-Term Care insurance policy.
The average cost of Skilled Nursing is about $7000 - $10,000 a month.
Short-Term Skilled Nursing is not appropriate for those who need care beyond one hundred days so no other funding sources are available.
