Memory Care Assisted Living Facilities
Is a Memory Care Facility Appropriate For You?
Memory Care is residential care for people who can no longer live independently and suffer from dementia. They typically provide personal care, prepared meals, housekeeping services and have security protocols in place to prevent the senior from wandering. Those who reside in memory care facilities usually need help with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as eating, bathing and grooming, dressing, mobility, and going to the bathroom but may also need help with medication and communication.
Residents must not be bedridden and must be able to get from their apartment to the dining room with some assistance.
Medicare, Medicaid or HUD Programs DO NOT provide any benefits so residents must be able to afford to pay for the Memory Care Facility out of pocket through personal funds or a Long-Term Care insurance policy..
Costs are typically $4,000 - $6,000 per month.
